Massachusetts Residents Vote to Legalize Pot, Pay More Taxes, and Invite More Corruption

Published by grahamcompany under Archive, Drugs Edit This

Who wouldn’t, really?

The statement to the liberal democratic leadership has recently been summarized into this pithy sentence: we want to pay more taxes and give you more opportunity to engage in corrupt practices…oh and go ahead and tell our kids to smoke pot while you’re at it.  Let’s not smoke pot, let’s not elect corruption (or at least any more corruption) into Massachusetts, and let’s think things through before voting.

I talked to quite a few scared citizens who voted “no” on question 1 because their employer was threatening that the organization would lose funding if question 1 passed.  Let’s stop hitting the pipe for one moment and take a closer look: the real problem is government corruption but we’d rather keep that in place and keep paying high taxes than step into the face of Massachusetts politicians and show them we actually care about their personal profit the average taxpayer financially supports (by continuing to pay taxes, as you legally must do).

Corruption and misuse of taxes is clearly the issue here, not state income tax (which New Hampshire and other states do fine without) but instead of facing the problem we cower in fear and vote “no” to saving our own hard-earned money from literally being scooped into greedy, corrupt hands.

But what can be done about political corruption in government?  Let me know if you have any ideas…
